North Vancouver based Buckland and Taylor Ltd. working as part of a team known as Audubon Bridge Constructors has won the 2012 Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Design Excellence award for the John James Audubon Bridge in Louisiana.

Buckland and Taylor’s scope of work included the bid and detailed design of the cable-stayed portion of the bridge, with the exception of its foundations, and construction engineering services.

Buckland and Taylor acted as a sub-consultant to Parsons Transportation Group along with Flatiron Construction and Granite Construction, forming the Audubon Bridge Constructors team.

The John James Audubon Bridge is Louisiana’s first design-build project, providing a Mississippi River crossing between Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana Parishes. At 1,583 feet long, the main span is the longest cable-stayed span in the Western Hemisphere.
