Michael Atkinson, the president of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), is in New Orleans for the organization's 98th annual conference.
The CCA recently submitted recommendations to the federal government regarding its upcoming budget. Atkinson said the top priority for the CCA was infrastructure, a key plank in the Liberal election campaign and a likely focus point for the budget
Atkinson said training initiatives are also important, and should be directed at areas where there is labour demand. He also pointed out that while sustainability and environmental stewardship is important, as is regulatory prudence. But he does not want to see a return to "green tape" where infrastructure projects are held back due to bureaucracy.
