John Furlong, who led the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC) and shepherded the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, spoke about leadership at the Vancouver Regional Construction Association's recent Construction Leadership Forum in Whistler, B.C.

Furlong spoke to the efforts of the construction industry in the lead-up to the Games, with a large volume of high-end work and a non-negotiable deadline to build what he described as "world-class venues."

He added that those venues are still best of class and were brought in on time and on budget.

In terms of leadership, Furlong said core values are integral to accomplishment, and pointed to the 2010 Winter Games as a good example of that philosophy.
