Canadata chief economist Alex Carrick spoke at the Canadata Construction Industry Forecasts Conference, held in Vancouver on October 23, 2014.
His talk, "Canada, I barely recognize you" was both an industry forecast and a comparison of the economies of both British Columbia and Canada.
Carrick said in many ways, B.C. is a microcosm of the challenges facing Canada, such as trying to find customers other than the United States, as well as finding the right position in the emerging technology sector.
Carrick also said that in order to create a sustainable future, it will be necessary to use fossil fuels to get there. But he stressed that B.C. is well-positioned with both natural gas and electricity to move towards such a future.
