VIDEO: Helmut Pastrick’s economic outlook and forecast for 2016
Central 1 Credit Union chief economist Helmut Pastrick presented an economic outlook and forecast for 2016 and beyond to the British Columbia chapter of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies (ACEC) in Vancouver.
Pastrick covered the decline in the Chinese economy along with the rise of the United States from the financial crisis of 2008 to its present state as the dynamo of the world economy. He also explained how a low Canadian dollar both benefits and harms various sectors of the Canadian and B.C. economy.
ACEC BC president Keith Sashaw also weighed in on the state of the economy, and expressed optimism that despite China's decline and the U.S. reaching close to self-sufficiency in energy production, the nascent liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in British Columbia will move ahead.
