Non-residential construction spending in the U.S. climbed to its 13th consecutive record in September.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Non-residential construction spending in the U.S. climbed to its 13th consecutive record in September.

“Census said seasonally adjusted construction spending slipped 0.3 per cent in September,” said Ken Simonson, chief economist for The Associated General Contractors of America.

“But non-residential construction rose 1.1 per cent, the 13th consecutive record.”

Major private-sector growth categories on a year-to-date basis included lodging, up 48 per cent; multi-retail, up 37 per cent; hospitals, up 25 per cent; and manufacturing, up 23 per cent.
