Bird Construction has been awarded a $177 million contract for the construction of the Suncor Firebag administration complex and village camp core at an oilsands plant north of Fort McMurray, AB.

Bird Construction secured a big contract in Fort McMurray to build a facility for a major energy company.

Bird Construction was awarded a $177 million contract for the construction of the Suncor Firebag administration complex and village camp core at an oilsands plant north of Fort McMurray, AB.

Due to the nature of the work and current market conditions, the work is being awarded in segments on a progressive basis by the owner.

Construction is underway and the work awarded to date is scheduled for completion in 2009.

After accounting adjustments, the contract is expected to add an additional $143 million to the company’s backlog.
