The 2008 municipal elections in Quesnel will be about more than just electing politicians.

The Cariboo Regional District has decided to place the proposed multi-centre on the ballot to let the residents decide whether or not they want the facility.

The proposed multi-centre will contain a new 2,000-seat, NHL-sized arena and a 450-seat multi-use theatre.

If the referendum proves successful, it will provide the Regional District with the authority to approach the provincial and federal levels of government to secure funding for the $32 million project.
