The Alberta government will contribute $7.6 million to the modernization and expansion of the power plant facility at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).
The Alberta government announced on January 31, 2008 that it will spend $7.6 million to enable NAIT to modernize and expand its power plant facility.
This investment will result in an estimated savings on utility expenses of up to $120,000 annually.
In addition to the power plant project, $1.8 million in government funding will be used to upgrade the roof on a number of NAIT buildings.
More than $3.5 million in maintenance has recently been finalized in post-secondary institutions across Alberta, including: Grant MacEwan College ($1.3 million); NorQuest College ($515,000); Northern Lakes College at Wabasca-Stony Point campus ($312,000); and Portage College main campus ($719,600). Southern Alberta will also get some cash as SAIT will receive ($800,000) for roof replacement and a powerplant building.
