Vernon, British Columbia getting new transit facility

A new transit facility is being built in Vernon, B.C. to provide improved service for commuters. “In order for Vernon’s Transit System to grow, it’s important that we have the infrastructure to support it,” said Mike Davis, B.C. Transit vice president and COO.

A new transit facility is being built in Vernon, B.C. to provide improved service for commuters. “In order for Vernon’s Transit System to grow, it’s important that we have the infrastructure to support it,” said Mike Davis, B.C. Transit vice president and COO.

“This facility will meet the expanded needs of today and address the demands of the future.”

The new Vernon transit maintenance facility involves the construction of an administration and maintenance building, wash bay, covered diesel fuelling station, outdoor covered storage area and parking.

Construction of the new maintenance facility is scheduled to begin in mid-November, with completion scheduled for early January 2012.

This year, there will be more than 500,000 trips on Vernon’s local transit system.
