Contentious negotiations between the Calgary Airport Authority and the city of Calgary have closed after a weekend of spirited discussion between the two parties.

On Friday, May 20, 2011, Calgary city council voted for a two-stage approach, with the city building the tunnel to connect Barlow Trail to 36 St NorthEast.

Two interchanges would also be built along Airport Road at Barlow Trail and 19 St Northeast after funding is secured.

Negotiations are closed and construction is proceeding but Calgary city council is waiting on the Airport Authority to conclude their processes.
