Manitoba Hydro has settled negotiations with four Manitoba First Nations partners to start construction of the $5.6 billion Keeyask generating station on the Nelson River in Manitoba.

Manitoba Hydro has settled negotiations with four Manitoba First Nations partners to start construction of the $5.6 billion Keeyask generating station on the Nelson River in Manitoba.

The first stage of the project is building a 25 kilometre access road and a camp for construction workers. The station will be based 175 kilometres northwest of Thompson Manitoba, and will generate an additional 695 megawatts of electricity, on top of the 4000 megawatts already generated.
