Minto office building in Ottawa, Ontario gets environmental rating from Building Owners and Managers Association

Minto Group Inc. said its 180 Kent Street tower in Ottawa, Ontario attained Building Environmental Standards (BESt) Level 4 certification from the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA). Minto is aiming platinum certification under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The building includes a rainwater harvesting system, green roof and heat recovery units.

Minto Group Inc. announced last week that a building in Ottawa received Building Environmental Standards (BESt) Level 4 certification from the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA).

Minto’s 180 Kent Street building, built in 2009 and aiming for platinum certification under leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED), includes a rainwater harvesting system, green roof and heat recovery units.

It attained BESt level 4 by scoring 90 per cent or higher in air quality, water conservation, heat recovery, energy reduction, preventative maintenance, tenant relations, waste recovery and environmental plans

180 Kent, which includes government, retail, restaurant and financial service sector tenants, is located on the west side of Kent Street between Slater Street and Laurier Avenue, about a kilometre southwest of Parliament Hill.
