A Helping Hand in Mount Pleasant

The 24-storey east tower of the Opsal development is taking shape in Mount Pleasant, in Vancouver, B.C.

Bastion Developments is the owner and the builder. The architect is IBI/HB Architects. The consulting engineers are Sterling Cooper & Associates Ltd. (mechanical), John Bryson & Partners (structural), Nemetz (S/A) & Associates Ltd. (electrical).

The entire project will eventually have three different structures, including another 12 storey residential tower and the Opsal Steel heritage building, which was built in 1918.

It has been dismantled, but its heavy timber framework, wooden siding, windows, signage and some of the original cladding will be re-used.

The restored building will then be used as commercial space.
