In this week's preview, we look at some of the stories we'll be covering in the Journal of Commerce for the week of September 1st, 2014.

Stantec has announced they are building Edmonton's largest office tower. The 62-story structure will have Stantec as an anchor tenant, and the company is also designing the building.

Staff writer Russell Hixson has a story about a proposed office that will oversee seismic upgrades in British Columbia schools, and Daily Commercial News staff writer Kelly LaPointe has a story about a push from the electrical sector to recruit more female workers.

We also look at the City of Vancouver's appeal of the recent National Energy Board decision to remove climate change consideration from its recent Trans Mountain Pipeline proposal assessment, and we have an article about indications from the Vancouver Island Construction Association that the region is experiencing increased construction activity.

Korky Korluk also has a column about using algae as an alternative energy source.
