BuildForce Canada has introduced its new website, which aims to provide young people education about careers in the construction industry.
"Students, their parents, and those changing jobs, can now easily get really practical information to make a great career choice," said BuildForce Canada's executive director Rosemary Sparks, in a press statement.
"The website points young people in the right direction by explaining more than 50 construction trades and occupations in a straight-forward, user-friendly way."
The site provides visitors with a Career Finder — helping job seekers narrow down careers that align with their interests and lifestyle; Labour Market Information maps — provides an accurate forecast of trades and jobs that are, or will be in demand, and the provinces they are in; and a videos section portraying industry people sharing their experiences in the skilled trades.
More than a quarter of the construction workforce is expected to retire over the next decade, which provides a significant opportunity for employment, says BuildForce.
"That opens up close to 250,000 new positions, right across the country," says Sparks.
"The Careers in Construction website is a great resource that helps job seekers learn more about all of the opportunities to build a rewarding career."
