Overturned excavator kills worker in West Vancouver

West Vancouver, B.C. - West Vancouver Police, WorksafeBC and the BC Coroner's Service are investigating a fatal workplace accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon.
Overturned excavator kills worker in West Vancouver

Emergency crews were called to a construction site in the 3100 Block of Chippendale Road in West Vancouver shortly after 1:30 p.m.

According to police, a worker was thrown from an excavator when it overturned while working at the top of a steep slope.

Police, West Vancouver Fire and Rescue and BC Ambulance Advance Life Support Units rushed to the scene, however, a 34-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

West Vancouver Police Victim Services are assisting family and co-workers.

WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroner's Service have taken over the investigation.

Immediate family has been notified. Identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
