Supportive Housing Contract Award
Stuart Olson Dominion Construction Ltd. was recently awarded a $27.5 million construction management contract to build new supportive housing in Vancouver, B.C.'s Downtown Eastside.
The Budzey Building will provide 147 supportive housing units primarily for women and children. The 10-storey concrete structure is aiming for LEED Gold certification and will include offices for RainCity Housing and Support Society, the building owner, as well as commercial space at grade.
Terra Housing Consultants is the project manager and Neale Staniszkis Doll Adams Architects did the design.
Stuart Olson Dominion is partnering with the BladeRunners employment program to provide onsite training and experience to at-risk youth to facilitate their entry into the construction labour force.
