First Nation considers LNG facility
Tsawwassen First Nation has launched a consultation with members regarding a proposed concept for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on Tsawwassen Lands.
The concept is at a very early stage and is being presented to TFN Members for their approval. It will be put to a TFN Member vote on December 16. The facility would produce three to five million tonnes of LNG annually.
The natural gas to supply the facility would be transported via an extension of an existing pipeline located 10 km away. The natural gas would be purified and liquefied at the facility. The storage facility would link to a vessel loading facility at Roberts Bank via a new pipeline.
Approximately five to six LNG carriers per month would visit the facility. The results of the vote will be made public following notification to TFN Members.
