Steel Day 2015 is a nation-wide program held September 18 where steel firms open their doors to the public.
The Journal of Commerce visited Pacific Bolt Manufacturing and George Third and Son Steel Fabricators Ltd. in Vancouver to see how they are participating in Steel Day and what projects they are currently and have recently worked on.
George Third and Son showed not only large steel tree sculptures for an art installation but also large presses and a blacksmith, which was the original role of the company in the early 20th century. Trevor Borland, the vice president of Pacific Bolt Manufacturing, also explained the important role of bolts in construction, which are required for both small projects and very large scale infrastructure.
