Governments commit $280 million for SkyTrain and West Coast Express upgrades

The federal and provincial governments are investing $280 million to upgrade SkyTrain and West Coast Express facilities in Greater Vancouver.

The investment will upgrade several Expo Line stations including Main Street and Scott Road, and improve rail infrastructure.

The West Coast Express commuter rail service between Vancouver and Mission will be improved, with upgrades to Waterfront and Mission Stations.

The federal government is investing $88.3 million, while the BC government is contributing $118 million. The balance will come from TransLink and local government partners.

The investment will create up to 1,700 jobs during construction, as well as new economic opportunities.
