$15-million donation to fund Southern Alberta Institute of Technology training centre

JESSICA PATTERSON

A record $15-million donation will go towards the new Aldred Centre at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). The money came from the Aldred family and will go towards the largest of three buildings in the new Trades and Technology Complex.

The complex will provide more than 740,000 square feet of additional training space for 3,600 more student spaces and will allow up to 8,100 more full-time and apprenticeship students each year in construction, energy and manufacturing.

Early work on the complex is underway and is expected to wrap up on 2012. PCL Construction Management Inc. is the project manager.
