Man killed on South Fraser Perimeter Road

Equipment sits idle on the worksite at the 10300-block of River Road in Delta, B.C. Yesterday, a 48-year-old construction worker was killed while working on this portion of the South Fraser Perimeter Road project.

A 48-year old male worker has been killed at a highway construction site in Delta B.C., after being hit by a dump truck on July 11.

“The initial reports indicate that a dump truck ran over a spotter, who may have been a TCP (Traffic Control Person,” said Donna Freeman, spokesperson with WorkSafeBC. “It is a fatality and WorkSafeBC officers have been sent to the scene. The coroner was also dispatched to the scene.”

The incident happened on the South Fraser Perimeter Road, near River Road River Road.

Early reports state that the man was killed while working for FTD Constructors, but that has not been confirmed.

Investigations are ongoing. At this time, WorkSafeBC is trying to determine if the man was a spotter, a TCP or both.
