Massive Island Development
SHANNON MONEO
Last fall, work started on one of Canada's largest single-site developments, the Capital City Centre project in Colwood, B.C., a Victoria suburb.
Over the next 20 years, construction of up to 3.8-million square feet of mixed-use space is planned for the 5.6-hectare site, including the region’s tallest building, a 26-storey residential tower.
Demolition of an existing strip mall is complete and clean up of contamination from a dry cleaning operation is almost done. League Assets Corporation, a Vancouver real estate investment trust is the developer.
The lead contractor is Victoria-based Farmer Construction.
